90% of the video is your face

Hey man, you’re going to get a lot of constructive criticism but good on you for continuing to improve your videos over time.

I liked the video. The b-roll of the phone with the speed ramping and light shifting was epic.

I wish more people gave usable old phones more attention.

The S2 was my first smartphone, athough mine was the ATT version. Mine turned to a POS when ice cream sandwich came out.

the sound on this is weird. is there background noise cancelling going on? kinda sounds like you’re speaking to me from inside my toilet

Oh man, the Samsung Galaxy SII _Epic 4G Touch_ variant from Sprint. I remember cloning the MAC from my functioning WiMAX service onto it. Too bad the USB port had to break early..

I loved the S2. The way it was built was the best. Square, easy to grip and a plastic body which made it so durable.

I remember way back when people’s videos about phones had content with the actual phone and not some guy’s ugly mush taking up most of the screen time.

ITT: criticizing the guy in the video rather than commenting on the topic.

S2 getting more OS updates than the S9

tl;dw: It lags a lot and stutters visually but still usable. The real interesting footage starts at 4:56 and ends at 5:13. Rest of the video is his face, the trees in his backyard and some street pictures he took? ? Weird video.

I just pulled an old “blackberry/droid” knockoff LG out of my drawer and I’m legitimately surprised how fast it is compared to its smartphone contemporaries in that era.

2011 Featurephones were way faster for texting/notes than their Android counterparts back in that day (aged better too). Proprietary OS’ were surprisingly slick and extremely lightweight.

I’d consider switching to a minimalist Droid/HTC Dream successor with a dedicated featherweight OS if it came out this year.

Maybe a Android Go Oreo ROM would be more suitable for the i9100.

guy sounds like he’s running out of breath at the end of every sentence… – constructive thought, the levels of volume between him talking, and the bass heavy loud music made me stop watching

Why does every youtuber put themselves into the video. I want to *see* the product and *hear* your thoughts. This is why I can’t watch anything on Twitch.

Nice video concept, but very poor execution…this was pretty awful to watch.

I think the volume to background music volume is okay, what is annoying for me is the “upwards infliction” at the end of many sentences

The entire hook of your video is the fact that you’re running a new operating system on a super old phone but the audience doesn’t get to see much of anything of the phone itself. The audience spends almost 95% of the video staring at you talking about a phone.

At the very least show some actual performance clips of the phone performing day-to-day tasks. People didn’t click on the video to watch someone talk awkwardly into a camera.

Why does many YouTubers seem to do this “speak a sentence per take and stitch them together”?
Isn’t it better having already your script ready and speak it fluidly?

Expected to see more videos of Nougat on the S2 and barely got anything. Pretty disappointing.

As one of the caveman who still uses the S2, I’m not sure how I feel about this kind of video…

Hmm, cool concept! I like it.

None of the big YouTubers are doing anything really interesting at all. It’s all flagships all the time.

Nice video. Making me think it might be worth buying a battery for my old galaxy notes.

One thing it would be cool to know is about actual uses of these old phones. For example, no matter how good my note 1 (or note 4) performs, I’m never realistically gonna use it instead of my current phone. Must be something cool these old phones can be used for though.
