Good (I think). I know the Sony Compact purists are up in arms about this ZX2 Compact but the mere fact that a small flagship exists is still a win. They’re basically the only game left in town.

[Both of these phones have 5″ screens](https://www.phonearena.com/phones/size#/phones/size/Sony-Xperia-XZ2-Compact,Google-Pixel-2/phones/10834,10584).

Whenever a new Sony Phone is announced, people make the same comment: over priced, won’t well. And while I agree it’s over priced, I think all phone are over priced. And honestly, it’s the same price or cheaper than other flagship phones. Why do people bash Sony for their prices, but not every other phone?

No 6gb of ram = no buy

Come on Sony!

Their midrange XA2/XA2 Ultra don’t support VoLTE or WiFi calling on T-Mobile so I don’t have high hopes that these will. DoA for me personally, as the reception at work/home isn’t the greatest.

Why would I buy the Xperia XZ2 Compact over the Pixel 2?

The XZ1 from 6 months ago retains the omnibalance design and is now $450.
$399 for the compact

Oof. 800 for the XZ2. Gonna be hard to compete with the more popular phones.

I was sold on it until I realized they are offering no incentives here in the USA and expect you to shell out $800. Sorry, but I can get the LG V30 with a BOGO, GS9 half off with trade-in, Mate 10 Pro for $650, or even the Honor v10 for less than $500. I want the device, but not at that price point. Maybe someday Sony will learn to invest properly in the US market. It just doesn’t justify such the high price for what it offers and lack of brand awareness (at least in the mobile department).

4 gb ram, no headphone jack, small battery despite phone thickness, no ois. $800 lol

You know I can kinda live with the $799 price and no freebies. But WTF, we don’t even get the 6GB of ram variant? I really hope BHPhoto is wrong

As some info, a lot of the more phones are going to start staying they are Verizon compatible. But that’s not technically true. Verizon is beginning to switch most of their services over to gsm based bands and clearing out CDMA. The HTC 11 was advertised as Verizon compatible but with an asterisk saying where available.

I know the xz2 has had murmurs of Verizon compatibility but be wary at least for another year or so

I have a hard time justifying that price without OIS and raw support in the camera. Sony has notoriously bad image processing and you can’t even get around it with the HDR+ Gcam mod.

Also I’d prefer a good OLED screen at that price, although I don’t have many complaints about the xz1c display.

(And no headphone jack, but that seems to be everyone these days…sigh.)

For anyone wondering about CDMA compatibility on the unlocked models, don’t count on it. [B&H](https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/search?sts=ma&ci=8565&Ntt=xz2) updated their site today and note that both models only have GSM compatibility. The [XZ2 Compact with Verizon](https://9to5google.com/2018/02/26/sony-xperia-xz2-tidbits-4k-hdr-improved-vibrations-us-availability/) compatbility could be a separate model or they’re still going through VZW’s certification process (more than likely the case).

I was excited until I saw that the Z2 was actually starting at $800, not $650. It’s a beautiful device and I’d get it because I like Sony products, but that’s a super tough sale in comparison to the competition. I mean really, we don’t even get 6GB RAM?

Wha? You’re only getting these phones now? WTF. We’re miles ahead of the Z2 here in the UK

So glad to see you sticking around!
