I wonder how linux on galaxy is coming around. I’ve signed up twice on their page but never gotten a single email about the project.

I’d love to just carry phone around and just rdp to my virtualized windows instance when I have to work on something on windows.

………and it’s gonna suck slightly less than the previous peice of crap Dex and is still embarrassingly overpriced and you still need a keyboard

i love the concept, but i wonder why they haven’t made a sleeker, more ergonomic design. make it sleeker and slanted, make it symmetrical, the plug doesn’t need to be this huge bump, etc. this would make for a much nicer and more usable touchpad. or make a normal doc and just use it as a second screen, with a mouse instead of the touchscreen. i also would love to see a laptop dock with the phone as the touchpad. i’ve been waiting for such a thing since the motorola atrix, or whatever it was called. not too long ago… Read more »

I want this pretty much for games. It would be do cool to be able to play Fortnite, Minecraft, etc on your phone with a M&k.

IMO, Dex exists in a weird space that doesn’t really convince me of its utility. It’s a really cool concept, but it’s not portable enough to justify using it instead of a laptop, and it’s not powerful enough to justify using it instead of a full desktop PC.

If they came out with a laptop shell for it, that would make it so much more convincing. Something like [Razer’s Project Linda](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5gKu-T13vXs&ab_channel=R%CE%9BZ%CE%9ER), except with Dex. And you know, actually coming to the market any time soon, if at all.

Anybody have some insight on what kinds of workflows this could fit into? I’m glad Samsung is trying it, but I’m having difficulty thinking of a situation where I only have my phone, a monitor, a Dexpad, and the need to use phone apps in a desktop environment.

I’m imagining maybe replacing laptops at meetings, but it seems like a bit of a stretch.

This has huge potential for the workplace, with many companies virtualizing their desktop environments, staff could work from just a phone when traveling, or full time in some circumstances. Rows of hot desks with existing repurposed monitors, keyboards and mice + Dex, and Citrix app on the phone, fantastic mobile setup. Business people would love not needing to carry anything.

It would still be nice if it worked how huawei’s does. Where you don’t need to have the dock just a USB c to hdmi cable.
